A great boost for Power Electrics as we announce the completion of a successful tender process that will extend our business with Western Power Distribution (WPD) for at least 3 more years.
In 2013 Power Electrics signed a deal to become a supplier of generators to Western Power Distribution (WPD) across three of their four regions. Today, the company is proud to announce that Power Electrics has successfully won a new contract to continue as WPD’s sole supplier for the next three years, with the company now covering all four regions.
WPD distributes electricity to nearly 8 million UK residents from the tip of Cornwall to Skegness on the North Sea. With over 220,000 km of overhead lines and underground cables, and 185,000 substations, the responsibility on Power Electrics has never been greater.
Business Development Director, Brian Holland said: “We are delighted that we could continue our work with WPD. We have an excellent working relationship with them and we are proud that WPD has the confidence in us to meet the immediate demands of challenging situations. It’s a great achievement for all of the team that worked on this and it is demonstrative of the kind of trust our customers have in us.”
The expansion of Power Electrics into the East Midlands area, and its commitment to investing in highly specialised individuals stood out as the sort of forecasting and direction that WPD look for from their suppliers. Power Electrics’ depots in Bridgend, Bristol and Cannock are perfectly positioned to service the entire 55,300 square kilometres of the WPD network. Furthermore, that Power Electrics operate their own bespoke fleet of trucks makes the company more consistently reliable at meeting demands.
In 2017 Power Electrics handled over 3,000 deployments across the territory covered by WPD and with the continued growth that the company has been experiencing, meeting the extra demand of WPD’s fourth region is a welcome and desired challenge. Recent investment, such as the Midlands depot that opened up in 2017, helps to facilitate this extra demand and increased strain on our fleet. It is Power Electrics’ hope that this new region opens up more opportunities to grow within the market, boost our brand recognition and continue to develop the strategic relationships we have with businesses around the UK.
