Power Electrics Generators for Ascension Island
Bristol based Power Electrics, one of the largest providers of generating systems in the UK, was recently commissioned by Southern Electric Contracting Ltd (SEC) to supply two generators for the MOD site on Ascension Island which were required to fulfil an urgent requirement for a back-up power solution.
The generator specification matched Power Electric’s standard fleet generator perfectly and they were able to provide the brand new FG Wilson sets ex-stock. One unit was sold to the project and the other was put into the fleet for temporary hire.

Power Electrics delivered the equipment to RAF Brize Norton where it was air freighted out to Ascension Island by the RAF. One of the company’s senior electrical engineers also made the trip to help install and commission the equipment.
For this requirement, Power Electrics, a main F.G. Wilson distributor, supplied an automatic mains failure change panel and two 135 kVA 3 Phase 400 volt 60HZ generator unit from the manufacturers XD Rental Range specifically designed for the rental sector. These robust generating sets are designed to meet the rigorous requirements of fleet operators, with all the generally up-fitted items included in the package as standard. They are fully bunded to contain all spillages and have a 24-hour fuel tank which comes complete with cleaning access, an internal fuel fill point and internal baffles. The control panel houses all the necessary metering and shutdown protections with LED indicators.
